Saturday a few of the Photo Club members and I took an early morning excursion to the NW corner of the county to a private hummingbird haven. It is a low swampy area (a "fen"), surrounded by trees, that is full of flowering Jewelweed, which the Hummingbirds seem to love. There were dozens of hummingbirds buzzing every which way. A short stop in their migration south, I imagine to feed and rest for a few days before they continue their journey. It was fascinating to watch, but wow, what a challenge to get a photo of a bird in flight or feeding while hovering. I got several perching pictures, but that was about all. Still, it was a pretty morning and a great way to start a weekend.
